Mary Sherman has been with the University of Virginia Faculty and Employee
Assistance Program, and internal EAP program for over 30 years, since 1996. She is a
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Employee Assistance Program, Certified Applied
Positive Psychology, and a Coach. Mary serves in a specialized role as the Outreach
Coordinator and Employee Assistance Consultant. She has extensive experience with
coaching, short-term problem solving, management consultation, mediation, and facilitation on a
range of personal and workplace issues. She is an engaging, dynamic trainer who is passionate
about sharing information related to mental health and well-being to help people decrease
stigma and increase their well-being toolkit to flourish in their lives. Mary presents on Mental
Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention, Positive Intelligence, Self-Compassion, Stress
Management, Resiliency Coping Strategies, Sustainable Well-Being, Self-Care Strategies, and
many other topics. Mary is a member of the Employee Assistance Program Association and
College and University Work Family Association.
