This original applied research project investigates physical activity behavior change using psychographics as a means of improving participation and outcomes in a large population of healthcare workers. Workers will be assessed on a variety of self-report factors from a battery of questions to determine risk among four pillars. Those who report high physical activity risk in the physical health pillar will be invited to participate in a targeted 6-week physical activity step challenge designed to shift behavior and lower health risk. Workers will be stratified into 2 cohorts, those receiving additional psychographic profiling to align communication, motivation and learning to one of 5 personality types, and those not receiving the psychographic profiling. The five personality types are Balance Seekers, Willful Endurers, Priority Jugglers, Self-Achievers and Direction Takers. The risk scores and other outcome variables will be revaluated after the challenge, and the two cohorts will be compared.
